Chamonix is the ultimate playground for winter sports.
Recently ranked as the premier resort in Europe by the
Times Newspaper (Nov 2003) Chamonix offers first class
skiing and snowboarding for all levels and ages.
The ski area of Les Houches is perfect for all skiers,
ranging from 950m to 1900m in altitude, with the largest
single area of 70km prepared slopes in the Chamonix Valley.
It has an extensive beginner's area with 4 green runs,
5 blue runs, together with 12 red runs which provide more
challenge for advanced skiers. There is one international
black run piste verte (finishing 100 metres from the apartment)
where the World Cup down hill race is held annually. The
2006 men’s down hill will be held in January 2006.
Skiing
in Les Houches is an extremely enjoyable experience, with
long runs through pine forests and spectacular views of
Mont Blanc and the Chamonix valley. You can virtually
ski out and into the apartment which is a huge plus factor.
The mountain restaurants are some of the best in the valley
and provide a welcome break after skiing, together with
the opportunity to relax and take in the sun and views.
Les Houches benefits from being separate from Chamonix
Ski Company, so the queues are never a problem even at
busy times.
Snow boarding in Les Houches is ideal, with wide flat
slopes perfect for beginners. Argentiere and Grands Monlets
is best for steep descents as well as a fun park and half
pipe. La Tour is a natural half pipe with long runs.
