Although having a car in Les Houches is not essential,

The road links to Chamonix are first class and the journey
from Calais is 560 miles taking about 8 hours, motorway
tolls cost approximately £70 for the return trip.

The bus service (SAT) from Geneva to Les Houches runs
three times a day and costs about 50 euros per person

TRAINS
Les Houches is served by an SNCF train station (tel:
0033 0892353535) which runs to St Gervais and all the
other resorts in the Chamonix Valley. The fast TGV train
runs from St Garvais to Geneva.
